ABOUT US
In the beginning was the bean.
It all started with a kid’s obsession with all things chocolate. Then came along the realisation that Filipinos aren’t so well aware of their homegrown beans.
Seekwati is the result of that decades-long passion, trying to bring back the Philippine cacao back into the spotlight.
Seekwati began as a humble personal blog by founder Miko Cruz to post about his profound appreciation for traditional tablea. Trying out different kinds from the cacao capitals of Batangas and Davao, to as far as Ilocos Sur, Mindoro and Cotabato, he eventually expanded the blog’s scope to all things generally chocolate, slowly flourishing into an interest group bringing together consumers and producers alike to discuss the state of the domestic chocolate sector.
Today, Seekwati is not only just a consumers’ blog platform, but also an NGO dedicated to helping cacao farmers promote their produce and fundraise capital for burgeoning confectionaires, especially in provinces with promising economic prospects.
Our Vision
Seekwati envisions a domestic cacao industry that is not only world-renowned for its quality & diversity, but also a market that is competitive and proudly Filipino.
Our Mission
Seekwati aims to boost & stimulate the cacao industry of the Philippines by forging links between farmers, chocolatiers, and institutions to better promote Filipino products locally and internationally.
